DAUGHTER of the CROSSLANDS

FANTASY
129K words

AFTER YEARS evading prying eyes and suspicion for being different from everybody else, Senya has finally found a quiet life tending sheep on a remote lakeshore farm. But a strange, ghostlike woman arrives out of the mists with a shattering plea: Senya’s twin brother Raedwin is trapped in the Crosslands between the living and the dead—and Senya is the only one with the power to free him.

For all their long lives, Senya has watched her brother seek answers to questions better left alone, paths that brought him nothing but trouble. She’s always been able to see and perceive him, no matter the distance—until now. Somehow, for some reason, Raedwin has become lost to her. And Senya’s healing abilities seem to be slipping away as well. When coaxed into a dreamlike state to allow a journey through the Crosslands to free him, Senya finds only darkness. There is no help, no guidance, and no sign of Raedwin.

Blinded by his love for a woman born of the Crosslands itself, Raedwin is actually the bait for a larger, more sinister scheme to control the primeval power locked within his sister.

Brogan, a hunter with a scarred past, stumbles upon Senya’s comatose body deep in an ancient forest. When a pair of wraithlike women appear and try to drag her body away, they drag Brogan into trouble right along with her.

Awakening to the plot against her, Senya has to escape with Brogan across a treacherous wilderness—first to safety, and then to uncover whether Raedwin is among the living, scattered with the dead, or stranded somewhere in between. She has to find a way to use her frightening new abilities to save her brother and fully face the truth of the power she’s been given—before a selfmade undead queen of the Crosslands possesses not just all those around her, but commands a bold new ascendancy lying at the very core of life itself.
